We only have one Earth, and here at Corestone, we care about protecting and preserving it. We are uncomfortably aware of mankind's deleterious impact on the climate and environment, and we aim to mitigate and reduce the damage that has been done while preventing further harm.
Since our founding, we have striven to promote lifestyles, technologies, and strategies that prioritize the planet's well-being, and we continue to do so.
Traditional energy sources have a significant and measurable effect on the environment. Not only are fossil fuels like oil and coal limited resources, but burning them release greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide or methane into the atmosphere, contributing to climate change. In addition, processes used to extract these resources can also be destructive, like fracking, which can pollute water resources, or offshore drilling, which can result in oil spills. Relying on these resources is short-sighted and selfish.
We should instead rely on renewable and clean energy sources. Solar panels generate energy by absorbing sunlight, while geothermal power harnesses heat from within the Earth. Wind turbines and hydroelectric dams also take advantage of naturally occuring forces in order to generate power, and nuclear power plants have minimal environmental impact. None of these energy sources are perfect, but each is far superior to non-renewable and pollutive sources. We advocate for both the public and private sectors to continue developing, improving, and implementing these clean and renewable energy sources.
